Totem is an ongoing series created by Swoon's founder and artist Sam Sano. Created from personal objects, found limestone from her land in West Texas, or wood from her father's wood shop, Sano stacks the pieces in a way that feels at once irreverent and elegant. Once the totem is assembled, Sano hand carves portions of the wood, leaving the viewer to question which part is nature and which part is her imprint on nature. Each one is entirely unique.
