Wheel Thrown Stoneware Ikebana Vase is made with porcelain slip textured base, shino, strontium blue glaze with wood & soda ash, cone 10 gas reduction fired. Above the textured base, the surface transitions into a smooth, dynamic canvas. The upper body is enveloped in a complex alchemy of Shino and Strontium Blue glazes. Because it was fired in a Cone 10 gas reduction kiln with wood and soda ash, the finish is wildly unpredictable and utterly unique. The resulting patina is a beautifully speckled, mottled gradient that feels celestial—reminiscent of a stormy twilight sky, oxidized bronze, or the quiet surface of deep water. Ultimately, this vase is a sculptural landscape in its own right, perfectly balancing the raw energy of the earth with fluid, ethereal movement.
